My life has circulated around these passions:
Teaching: I’ve been a teacher for twenty-five years. I’ve taught Kindergarten all the way up through adults having both been a classroom teacher and a principal.
Creating: If I’m not writing creative poetry and stories, I’m creating content. If I’m not creating content, I’m writing curriculum for the classroom. My passion is bolstered by the act of creating rich material from novels to classroom activities to share with others and enrich their experience in this life.
Writing: Besides teaching about writing, I’ve written a bunch of books both fiction and nonfiction, some with my name as the author, some as a ghostwriter. I’ve written poetry, letters, blogs, newsletters, copy, and articles. I’ve developmentally edited, line edited, and copy edited for clients.
Reading: One of my areas of expertise is the art of narrative and critical analysis of story. This is due the voracious way I read but also in line with my skills as a teacher and creator of curriculum.
These passions led me to create Mixed Plate Press in 2020, a business focused on writing, editing, and teaching. With emphasis on these passions, I’ve created a content-rich site that offers clients the opportunity to grow, learn, and add to their own toolkits as creators and educators.
With the intent to elevate and serve others, Mixed Plate Press is rooted in offering rich opportunities to offer creative content whether it’s to enhance learning through exploring stories or creative storytelling.
