New Goals & Maneuverability

By Cami Walters-Nihipali

How did your SMART goal setting go?

You weren’t alone in making goals. Mixed Plate Press has some goals as well. Here they are:

  1. Publish the first Maci Aurora book. In the Shadow of a Wish, April 26, 2022.

  2. Publish the new CL Walters new adult contemporary title, The Messy Truth About Love, July 26, 2022 (this is a shortened timeline cutting out 10 weeks from our usual timeline).

  3. Publish the second Maci Aurora book, In the Shadow of a Hoax, October 18, 2022.

  4. Start a Patreon Page.

  5. Celebrate Mixed Plate Press 2 year anniversary!

Is there a plan in place. Of course.

One goal accomplished was the start of the Patreon page:

This Page is up and running.

Why?

Here’s what I wrote on the page:

Here's the scoop about publishing books, it takes a lot of people to get a book to market. Not only the does it require the author, but artists of all kinds, and each of those people need to get paid. Like most art, books don't turn a large profit, not for the independent artists at least, but when indie publishing is done right, it's magical; a symbiotic kind of ebb and flow of independent creators from the author to graphic artists, cover artists, character artists, formatters, and editors into the physical copy of a book.

I'm at the point where I need alternative sources of income to keep this independent dream alive... which is where you—the patron—come in.

So that’s the why of starting a Patreon.

Whatever the outcome of Patreon, the goals remain. It’s just about finding the way to make it happen and that might mean adjusting timelines. But that’s how goals are, right, malleable when they need to be to accommodate self-care, finances, time? Whatever the constraints might be, there needs to be room to maneuver. How are you making that room for yourself and your goals?
